- Yes, I just got the CD-Drive to actually read without skipping from a disc! Overwhelmed? You bet I am. Brings a tear to my eye. I really need to do a good system clean up and get it running a bit quicker again though, it's 2 this September but it's still doing remarkably well, I've never had a laptop last this long before and this one is still in really good nick so I want to keep it that way. God bless HP.
- According to the Lynx (UPS) parcel tracker my new phone is currently "status: out for delivery" which is very nice, I'd say, except for that I can't guarantee being in the house all day, and there is no one else home. I requested a morning delivery, but they just said they'd try but can't guarantee a time of day. This always gets me mad, they can work out roughly how long the guys route takes and give better time slots, they choose not to. Anyway, hopefully it will come soon so I can play with it like a new toy.
- Facebook. Is anyone in the world not on there? It's bizzare, because you end up with old blogging pals in the same list as work colleagues, uni mates, and random pokes. It hasn't for me yet, but I can see it raising odd questions about how folks know each other. My boss is never being added, thats for sure.
- Live Earth. I love big concerts, but it all seems a little fake. Don't get me wrong, I hope everyone has a great time who's going, but Live8 had a groundswell type feeling about it, all that campaigning and the other events, about something people were pretty much agreed on. Live Earth just doesn't seem to have that, it's like everytime someone thinks of a cause now we have to have a huge concert, get some originality, muppets!

Patience, Self Control...

...and resisting the urge to lose my temper, throw things, shout at the boss, whinge and whine for hours on the internet about the injustice of things and generally not do anything constructive.
I'm trying to learn to be patient and, shock horror, accepting.
This means that despite the fact I want to have the hugest row right now, I'm instead going to get on and do the work anyway.
Wish me luck!

The big question has to be...
@ 2007-05-31 – 16:25:50
Following the start of BB8 (which will surely doom television even further with it's badness!) full of an all girl house, are there any girls left in the world who want to be something other than famous? Any of them want to be writers or teachers? Scientists or lawyers? Business owners or Artists?Has the whole world gone mad? Are Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham really the only role models in the world for young women today?
If this is the case, I think I may become a monk.

Shoes.
@ 2007-05-22 – 15:34:52
Ok, so I logged on to Dazed Digital earlier and find one of the best examples of web marketing I've seen yet, a small flash ad for nikeid.com on the right where you enter your name and a descriptor into the boxes, press go and it randomly designs you a pair of shoes you can buy. I like that there is no sound or excessive loudness to the advert, it works well in context and fits the sites colour scheme.
Anyway, without further ado, my new shoes, as designed by the wee advert on the website. (They would be my new shoes, had I £120 to spare)

Mandatory, Guess what, I'm still alive after all post...

I was positive they'd sent me an e-mail saying this blog was going to die if I didn't do something or other that I was far to lazy to do then the blog would spontaneously combust. Or something like that, I'm not entirely sure, I wasn't paying much attention.
Anyway, turns out I am still here, I'm not actually dead. I'd love to tell you all the exciting changes in my world since I last blogged, however, I'm sat here tapping away on the laptop, with the cricket on the radio, and very shortly I'm about to go eat cake. Somethings never change.
Oh, something did happen, with work, I now do less skivvying around for other people and am actually allowed to design things. I even have someone at my beck and call to fix things that go wrong. Admittedly they're based a million* miles away, but still, it's handy to be able to give problems to someone else to sort out now.
Now I know I still have a blog here I will try to actually update it again. So any big news around these climes?
* India. It's not quite a million miles away, but it may as well be, because the people we employ are too far away to make the drinks and bring me cake. (p.s It wasn't my decision to out source abroad! I disagree! Don't blame me! Blame global economics!)
